The Cherries progressed in the Dorset Senior Trophy with a 3-0 victory over Division One side Dorchester Borough.

Two goals from Wayne Moussalli (pictured), who struck one in each half, and one from fellow forward Stuart Frear sets Sturminster Newton up with a third round tie on 10th December at home to Shaftesbury Reserves.

The home side made three changes from last week's victory at local rivals Okeford United with Howard Batten, Aled Williams and Sam Stockley all being named in the starting XIStur kept the ball well throughout the game and showed a lot of quality in possession. Moussalli scored midway through the first half with a drive from the edge of the box that curled beyond the impressive Borough keeper. Just after the break, Moussalli got his second, a deflected effort after being set up by skipper Mike Budd. Budd was also the provider for Stuart Frear's strike, unselfishly passing to his unmarked teammate with twenty minutes to go.

Debutant Mike Revell showed some impressive touches after being called up with some impressive performances in the reserves, and he could have made it four, but he mis-hit a shot after weaving through the Dorchester defence.  Strikers Stuart Frear and Wayne Moussalli now have six goals each this season.

Next week, Stur return to the league with a trip to Witchampton United.

SNUFC: Robson, Williams (C Frear), W Gould, Moore, Batten, Sweatman, Budd (c), Proctor, Moussalli (Revell), Stockley (Newton), S Frear. Sub not used: Carter.
