Sturminster Newton United went down 1-0 despite dominating against a strong looking Chickerell United side.

Chickerell United's first team had their game called off at Blandford due to a frozen pitch so the home side fielded several players who usually play for the DPL side. However, it was The Cherries who dominated the opening exchanges. With a break of a week since the defeat at Piddletrenthide, manager Gary Head rang the changes, including a debut for Russell Dominey who has rejoined the club from Hamworthy United.

Recalled forward Sam Stockley forced a good save from the goalkeeper, with fellow attackers Wayne Moussalli and Stuart Frear also going close. On the break, Chickerell forced a great double save from goalkeeper Jamie Beale, but he was beaten not long after when the Stur defence failed to clear their lines and a Chickerell striker struck from just outside the box into the bottom corner of the net.

A foul on defender Neil Sweatman resulted in a penalty around the 70 minute mark, but top goalscorer Frear's spot kick was saved by the goalkeeper.  Skipper Mike Budd hit the bar with a turn and shot as the second half continued much in the same pattern to the first. The Cherries dominating in terms of possession and chances but they couldn't find the back of the net and lost 1-0.

SNUFC: Beale, A Gould (Frampton), W Gould, Dominey, Froud, Sweatman, Budd (c), Moore (Carter), S Frear, Stockley (Elson), Moussalli. Sub not used: Williams.
