A brace each for midfielders Mike Budd and Steve Moore saw off the challenge of Witchampton as Sturminster Newton United romped home to a 4-1 win.

The Cherries gained revenge for a 5-3 defeat earlier in the season by opening the scoring in under two minutes.  Debutant Teejay Smith-McFarlane wriggled free on the right to set up advancing skipper Budd as he volleyed home from ten yards.  The away side levelled on 11 minutes. A deep cross was headed home by the tall Witchampton forward despite the close attentions of goalkeeper Jamie Beale.

Before the half was out, Budd had added his second, courtesy of another Smith-McFarlane assist.  Alex Gould and Stuart Frear combined to set up Smith-McFarlane, who played in Budd to lob the goalkeeper from just inside the box.  After the break, Steve Moore's corner on 60 minutes went straight in, the goalkeeper unable to keep it out as his punch  could only help the ball into the net. Moore left his best until last. A 35 yard plus free kick was hammered home past the helpless goalkeeper to make it 4-1.

SNUFC: Beale; A Gould, W Gould, Dominey, Froud, Sweatman, Budd (c), Moore (Carter), S Frear (Stockley), Smith-McFarlane (Revell), Moussalli. Sub not used: C Frear.
