SNUFC Under 12’s Match Report 6th Feb 2011
Dorchester Town Tigers 0 SNUFC 6
A fair wind did blow, and our boys made the most with an improved performance. Individual and team play was back where it all should be, and rightfully bearing the fruits of this labour. From the off Sturminster held their shape and some quality passing gave the advantage. The first goal was quick in coming, with Jordan Sharp making the most of an opportunity to snap shot a lose ball into the net. This was followed by a stunning goal from Tommy Bond. Everyone could but stop and stare as he launched the ball from well outside the box, driving it high into goal leaving the keeper solid on his feet and unable to do anything ! This level of play continued with Jordan Sharp chasing down another lose ball. In a race with the keeper and defenders Jordan got his foot to the ball on the edge of the box, toe-punching home the third goal. Dorchester were doing their best, but just couldn’t pull a strong defence, and in frustration a push led to the first of two penalties for Sturminster. Jack Bailey did his usual with both, taking Sturminster to 5 up at the half time break.
Dorchester came out to play a somewhat better second half, and for a time it seemed that they might cause an upset for Sturminster by pulling at our midfield and breaking through to attack on goal. The finishing wasn’t there however, and slowly but surely the Sturminster boys regained control. There was lots of action from both teams, but it was well into this half before the next goal. A virtual copy of his second, Jordan Sharp outpaced the opposition and pushed the ball home to make the hat-trick.
Throughout this match the Sturminster U12’s all played very well and all deserved to hold their heads high with a fine result. Well done to you all. Man of the Match awarded to Tommy Bond for much improved play and his stunning goal. Congratulations and keep it up.
